PAID externship for medical students from underrepresented backgrounds - Robert A. Winn Clinical Investigator Pathway Program

The Robert A. Winn Clinical Investigator Pathway Program (Winn CIPP) is part of a $114 million initiative funded by the Bristol Myers Squibb Foundation, Gilead Sciences, and Amgen. This national program aims to increase diversity in clinical trials and transform the clinical research landscape.

Winn CIPP is a 6-week summer externship offering medical students from underrepresented backgrounds in medicine and disadvantaged circumstances the chance to experience and engage in clinical research conducted in community-based settings. The program's goal is to expose students to career pathways in clinical research, particularly emphasizing community-oriented research focused on inclusion, equity, and diversity in clinical and translational research.

Key details:

  • Program Periods: June 3rd - July 12th, 2024 (Group 1) and June 10th - July 19th, 2024 (Group 2)

  • Locations: Various cities including Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and others (subject to change)

  • Stipend: $7,500 for participants

Students will receive training in clinical research, community engagement, and leadership development during the program.
