Remember the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The Mile High Medical Society salutes the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who encouraged minorities to achieve their dream of becoming healthcare providers. His monumental actions on civil rights reform has helped us to live a life in which we can improve the quality of medicine and alleviate healthcare disparity, and to fulfill his dream for peace, unity, service, and equality.

Our mission is to provide outstanding medical care for all communities, especially for the marginalized and disenfranchised, as well as eliminate racial biases and poor healthcare outcome.

The Mile High Medical Society recognizes the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and also acknowledges the generations of African-Americans who have made medical history.

Dr. Charles Drew - First African-American surgeon and medical researcher who discovered plasma
Dr. Matthew Walker - First African-American surgeon
Dr. Rebecca Crumpler - First female African-American MD
Dr. Justina Ford - First licensed African-American physician in Denver, CO
Dr. James McCune Smith - First African-American to earn an MD
Dr. Hale Williams - Founded Chicago Provident Hospital

These are just a few of the shoulders of the African-American pioneers on which we stand. We must continue in their path to help the world of medicine become more innovative, more relevant, and more inclusive.
