Raw Material, showcases selections from over 25 years of NedRa Bonds’ narrative quilts, providing an autobiographical declaration of Black Womanhood coupled with reflections on racial and social injustice, intimate encounters with the medical establishment, and her family legacy.
7,000 Babies, highlights the legacy of Justina Ford, MD (1871-1952), the first licensed Black female physician in Colorado and her extraordinary efforts to care for Denver’s communities over the span of 50 years. Both exhibits provide inspiring messages of determinedness and resilience in the face of race and gender inequities.
Both exhibits are now open for viewing and will be on display until October 31st.
